Matching pole count and contact arrangement — both halves sit on the cable.

Description

The TH408 series joins two leads to each other — both halves sit on the cable. It is rated 17.5 A at 400 V AC with an impulse withstand voltage of 6 kV; outside diameter is 36.5 mm and, mated, the connection measures Ø 36.5 × 80.0 mm.

IP69 — the difference from the TH405

The TH408 and the TH405 cover the same electrical range but differ in two respects: the TH408 additionally reaches IP69, so it withstands high-pressure and steam cleaning, and it is screw-locked rather than bayonet-locked. That makes it the choice for food processing, wash-down areas and anything hosed down regularly. Where connections are broken and remade often in the field, the TH405's bayonet is quicker.

Pole counts and contact marking

2, 3, 5 and 6-pole versions are available. The protective earth counts as a pole: 2-pole is L-N, 3-pole L-N-E, 5-pole 1-2-L-N-E and 6-pole 1-2-3-L-N-E.

Termination

Conductors clamp with M3 screws at 0.8 Nm; cross-section runs from 0.5 to 1.5 mm², solid or stranded. Cable diameter is 7 to 13.5 mm, with H05 or H07 type cable recommended. The gland nut is tightened to 2.5 Nm, the conductor stripped to 6 mm and the sheath to 35 mm.

Protection and materials

Protection rating is IP68 (5 m / 1 h) and IP69, impact resistance IK08. Corrosion resistance is verified by salt mist testing to EN 60068-2-11. The plastic parts are black, the sealing elements Techno green, the contacts brass.
