Description
The TH405 series is Techno's large circular connector — 38 mm outside diameter, rated for 17.5 A at 400 V AC with an impulse withstand voltage of 6 kV. Both halves sit on the cable; the panel-mount version of the same connection is our TH406.
Reversed contacts
This version is the mirror image: the pin contacts sit in the cable plug (Ø 38 × 75.7 mm), the socket contacts in the cable socket (Ø 38 × 80 mm). Which side stays live in operation decides the choice — the touchable pins belong on the side that is dead once disconnected.
Piercing termination
With piercing termination the clamping screw pierces the core insulation — the conductor does not need stripping. In field assembly that removes the step most likely to go wrong.
Bayonet locking
Locking is by bayonet rather than a screw coupling — a quarter turn that audibly engages.
Pole counts and contact marking
2, 3, 5 and 6-pole versions are available. The protective earth counts as a pole: 2-pole is L-N, 3-pole L-N-E, 5-pole 1-2-L-N-E and 6-pole 1-2-3-L-N-E. Cable diameter is 7 to 13.5 mm.
Protection and materials
Protection rating is IP66 and IP68. The plastic parts are black, the sealing elements Techno green, the contacts brass. For the North American market the rating is 20 A at 400 V AC/DC.
