What panel thickness can be used?

Up to 7 mm. The cut-out follows the M25 thread. The mounting nut is included with the panel socket connector.

Do I need a different version for a plastic enclosure?

Yes. For non-conductive enclosures Techno offers the same versions as an NC variant with M20 thread, NC standing for non conductive. The version shown here is intended for conductive enclosures and in return allows twice the panel thickness.

How does the nut version differ from the flange version?

Only in the fixing method. Both have an M25 thread and allow up to 7 mm panel thickness. Here it is secured from inside with a nut; the flange version has a screwed-on plate on the outside of the wall.

Why is the conductor cross-section smaller on 5-pole versions?

Because the insert is more densely populated. The 3-pole inserts accept 0.5 to 2.5 mm² and clamp with M3 screws at 0.8 Nm; the 5-pole inserts accept 0.25 to 1.5 mm² with M2 screws at 0.2 Nm.

Does the current rating apply in North America too?

No. Under IEC the series is rated 17.5 A at 500 V, while the UL/CSA listing to UL 2238 is 7 A at 600 V. If your assembly goes to the UL market, the lower rating applies.

Description

The panel-mounted versions of the TH387 series with M25 thread sit in the enclosure wall and are secured from inside with a nut. They are rated for 17.5 A at 500 V AC.

Mounting

Thread M25, maximum panel thickness 7 mm. The mounting nut is included with the socket connector. If you prefer a screwed-on flange plate, the same versions are available as the flange variant of the series.

Versions and pole counts

Available as panel plug connector and panel socket connector, each with 2, 3, 4 and 5 poles as well as the earthed versions 2+PE, 3+PE and 4+PE.

Conductor cross-section depends on the pole count: 0.5 to 2.5 mm² on the 3-pole inserts (M3, 0.8 Nm), 0.25 to 1.5 mm² on the 5-pole inserts (M2, 0.2 Nm).

Metal or plastic enclosure?

This version is intended for installation in conductive enclosures. For plastic enclosures, Techno offers the same versions as an NC variant with M20 thread — short for non conductive. Check which enclosure material you are using before ordering.

Protection and materials

Protection rating is IP66 and IP68 (30 m / 3 h), impact resistance IK07. The housing is glass-fibre reinforced PA66 to UL94 V0, the seals TPE, the contacts brass. The temperature range runs from −40 to +125 °C with a maximum operating temperature of +60 °C. Halogen-free and silicone-free, tested to EN 61984, with CE and UKCA marking and a UL/CSA listing to UL 2238 (7 A at 600 V there).
